Equality Objectives

Equality Objective 1: Quality of Education

Ensure all students have access to a rich, rigorous and knowledge-led curriculum that holds up a mirror to their own lives and provides a window into the experiences of different people and cultures.

We will do this by:

  • ensuring that the curriculum is planned through a lens that sees the experiences of different voices, lives and cultures as an integral part of a rigorous curriculum;
  • providing curricular opportunities for students to engage with, and understand, diversity in all its forms;
  • actively ensuring that the curriculum is ambitious for all students and provides the same opportunities so all students have their passport to success.

Equality Objective 2: Behaviour and Attitudes

Rigorously eliminate any discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for all pupils. Ensure that incidents including racism, homophobia, sexism and any other forms of discrimination are dealt with promptly, sensitively and consistently with a particular focus on eliminating repeat offenders.

We will do this by:

  • Continuing to educate young people on The Equality Act 2010;
  • Ensuring the pastoral team pick up and deal with incidents in a time sensitive manner;
  • Actively promote diversity and inclusivity within the taught curriculum;

Objective 3: Personal Development

To continue to promote understanding and respect for the diversity within the academy and the community. Ensuring all students have access to a range of enrichment opportunities. Students will also be able to voice their concerns and ideas via the student council.

We will do this by;

  • Continuing to celebrate the diversity of our school, through tutor time, displays and culture events;
  • Ensure our enrichment offer is wide ranging and accessible to all students;
  • Continue to grow the student council so more voices can be heard.
